Madison's Lakeview Industrial Park Approved as a South Dakota Certified Ready Site

The Lakeview Industrial Park in Madison, S.D., has been approved as a South Dakota Certified Ready Site. The announcement was made during a presentation at the Lake Area Improvement Corporation’s monthly board meeting this morning.

“Lakeview Industrial Park will make 13 announced South Dakota Certified Ready Sites,” said Pat Costello, Commissioner, South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). “It’s always a pleasure to see communities show an investment in economic development, and I commend the Lake Area Improvement Corporation on its continued commitment to economic development in Madison.”

“Having a ‘Certified Ready’ industrial park is crucial for us,” said Julie Gross, executive director, Lake Area Improvement Corporation. “The application process is extensive, but well worth it because it ensures our site is 100 percent development-ready and that’s a key selling point for companies looking to expand or relocate. If there’s a community that is questioning whether or not to apply for the Certified Ready Sites program, trust me, it is worth the investment. It might be the difference between a sale made and a sale lost.”

Lakeview Industrial Park is currently occupied by 10 businesses, and by fall of this year will have 11 fully operational companies.

The South Dakota Certified Ready Sites program is an economic development tool available to all counties, cities, townships, planning districts, business improvement districts and developers.

The program is operated under the supervision of the GOED for the purpose of providing consistent information on sites available throughout the state. For more information on the program, visit www.sdreadytopartner.com.
