This is Amy’s third year
as the fifth and sixth grade teacher at Madison Christian School. Graduating from the University of Northern
Iowa with her Elementary Education degree, she then moved to Mission, Texas where she
taught Mexican American students in grades three and four. This was especially rewarding since her
desire was to be able to teach ethnic children early in her career. Amy taught in Wagner, SD, Lennox, SD, and
Arlington, SD respectively. After a
total of thirteen years of teaching in grades ranging from third grade to
sixth grade, she substitute taught in the Madison school
district for three years. While her
children were young, she ran a daycare out of her home for seven years.
This past summer Amy
attended Science workshops and plans to incorporate great hands-on activities
with her students. Science is a great
love of hers and she especially enjoys using Christian curriculum in her
lessons. Her classroom is a fun place
to learn and grow in!
One of the most rewarding
aspects of teaching at MCS is having the freedom to talk about the Lord and integrate
the Word in all areas of student development.
It is a wonderful atmosphere where students acquire spiritual
knowledge as well as excellent academics.
Outside of work, Amy
enjoys spending time with Marlin and her children, Abby, Elizabeth, and
Nicholas. The youngest two children
attend MCS. Her family loves
cross-country and downhill skiing, and enjoys the family cabin at Lake Brant near Madison.
