Bulldogs win nail-biter over Ladybirds

Another nail-biter for the Lady Bulldogs... A buzzer-beating basket gave Madison its eighth win of the season Monday night as it nipped Lennox 49-48 at the Middle School Gym.

Lennox jumped out to the early lead, only to have Madison tie the game up 12-12 at the end of the first quarter. The Bulldogs were only able to get one field goal in the second quarter as the Ladybirds took a 24-17 halftime lead.

Lennox expanded its lead into double-digits early in the third, but Madison would chip into the lead, cutting the deficit to five at the end of the quarter. The score was tied twice in the fourth quarter, but Lennox held a 48-47 lead with less than 10 seconds to go in the game.

After a time-out the Bulldogs set up the last play of the game. With no time left, freshman Bailey Milne tipped the ball in to seal the win for Madison. Milnes heroics earned her "Player of the Game" honors. Following the game, Madison head coach Mat Nelson credited the teams perseverance as the key in the win.

Brianna Postma led Madison with 11 points, while Kaitlyn Higgins added 10. Christa Paul added 9 points and 9 boards, while Mikayla McNary scored nine for the 8-4 Bulldogs. Harrisburg's Morgan Fossum led all scorers with 12 as the Orioles fell to 8-4 on the season.

Madison is back in action Thursday, as it travels to Harrisburg. Pre-game will be at 7:10; with tip-off at 7:30 on Dakota's Best, KJAM.
