The Madison wrestling team went 1-1 last night at the Middle School Gym. The Bulldogs lost to Yankton 39-29, but came back to win its "Madison Square Garden Night" dual with Sioux Falls Roosevelt 55-19.
Bonus points and pins for Yankton proved to be the difference in the dual, as the Bulldogs were a little sluggish at the start. Despite the loss, there were several highlights for the Bulldogs, as Matt Goth at 125, Andy Williams at 135, and Jacob Aus at 145 all picked up wins over ranked opponents. Zach Ordal, Tyrel Red Bird and Mason Riedesel all had pins in their respective matches.
Madison's middle weights came through again in the second dual against the Rough Riders. After spotting Roosevelt a 10-4 lead, the Bulldogs reeled off six straight match wins, three by fall, to take the lead for good. Williams and Ordal had pins for Madison, as Roger Fender at 140.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday as they head to Brookings for the South Dakota Class "A" Dual Team Tournament.
