Cardiac Kids win 7th Straight

The "Cardiac Bulldogs" did it again... A buzzer-beating three-pointer sent Madison into overtime against Harrisburg, where the Lady Bulldogs won 62-60 Thursday night in Harrisburg.

Madison built up a 19-14 first quarter lead, only to manage 16 total points in the second and third quarters. With Harrisburg leading 41-35 in the fourth quarter, Madison rallied to take the lead with less than a minute to go. The Tigers re-took the lead and sophomore guard Mikayla McNary nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, both teams traded the lead, eventually tied at 60. With less than a second left in OT, Shannon Spurgin nailed two free throws, giving Madison its seventh win in a row and improving the Bulldogs to 9-4 on the year.

McNary was named "Player of the Game", as she led Madison with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Katilyn Higgins added 12 points while Christa Paul scored 10. For 10-4 Harrisburg, Lindsey Johnson had 20 points, while Kristen Ackerman had 14. Morgan Fischer scored 11 while Calista Winter added 7 rebounds.

Madison looks for its eighth win in a row Saturday as it travels to Slayton, Minnesota for a matchup with Murray County Central. Tip-off against the Rebels will be at 3:30 Saturday on Dakota's Best, AM 1390.
