Rebels snap Lady Bulldogs win streak

An early second-half surge spelled doom for the Madison girls' basketball team as Murray County Central snapped the Bulldogs winning streak this last weekend. The Rebels downed Madison 73-45 to end Madison's win streak at seven games.

M-C-C jumped out to an early 10-point lead in the game, only to have Madison tie the game late in the first half. Head coach Mat Nelson says a big factor for Madison staying in the game was the fact that Rebel center Emily Bose fell into foul trouble early.

The Rebels took a 5-point lead at the half, then started the second half with a 25-4 run that essentially put the game out of reach for Madison. Nelson says Murray County was able to hit its shots while Madison struggled with its shooting.

Bose led all scorers with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Kate Robinson added 17 points for the 13-6 rebels. For 9-5 Madison, Christa Paul led the way with 9 points, while Katelynn Higgins pulled down 7 rebounds.

The Bulldogs are back in action Tuesday, when they travel to Sioux Falls Christian.
