Hot shooting by West Central sent the Madison boys to their second loss in three games Thursday night. The Trojans downed the Bulldogs 77-67 in Hartford, avenging an earlier season loss to Madison.
The Trojans went on a 6-0 run to start the game, but Madison responded with 10 unanswered points. That would be the Bulldogs only lead of the game as West Central went on a 10-2 run to take the lead for good at the end of the first quarter, 16-12.
Madison rallied several times in the game, cutting the lead to 3 points at several times in the game. But timely shooting by West Central senior guard Matt Grave, 20 Bulldog turnovers, and 15-19 foul shooting in the fourth for the Trojans helped the team improve to 12-1 on the season.
Grave earned Knology "Player of the Game" honors as he finished with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Three other Trojans scored in double figures as Mike Wenk and Jordan Snyder had 14 points apiece and Mike Tuch added 13.
For the 11-2 Bulldogs, Chad White led all scorers with 30 points, while Tony Fiegen added 16. Derrick Wiebe had 9 points and six rebounds.
Madison is back in action tonight as it hosts Vermillion at the Middle School Gym. Tip-off is at 7:30; Matt Hendrickson has the pre-game at 7:10 on KJAM, AM 1390
