Bulldog Gymnasts win region title

Madison qualified its gymnastics team for state competition last night during the Region 1A meet in Vermillion. The Bulldogs took home the region title by nearly 18 points.

Madison took home top honors with a 137.175, followed by runner-up Wagner with a 119.55. Vermillion was third with a 112.975, while West Central rounded out the scoring with a 104.775.

Individually for Madison, Shannon Winthers took first in the all-around with a 34.45. She took first in the Bars while placing third in the Beam and Floor and fourth in the Vault. Preslee Jorgenson and Lexi Finck tied for second in the all-around as Jorgenson won the Floor and Finck won the Vault. Kaitlyn Walker won the Beam for Madison. All 10 Madison gymnasts qualified individually for state competition

Madison, Wagner, and Vermillion will move on to next week's state team competition, which takes place next Friday in Rapid City.
