"Business as Usual" for Madison Gymnasts
Posted on Friday, February 20, 2009
The Madison gymnastics team begins its quest for its fifteenth straight team title tonight at the Class "A" Gymnastics Meet in Rapid City. The meet starts at 6:30, Central Time, at Stevens High School.
It is almost a whole new squad this year, as Madison lost several leaders from last years team due to graduation. One of the newcomers this year is seventh-grader Shannon Winthers, who took first-place in the all-around during last weeks region meet. She says there were some nerves among the newcomers at the beginning of the season.
One of the members from last years team is Mara Riedel. The senior gymnast says the girls are taking a "business as usual" approach to todays team competition.
Junior Kaitlyn Walker says in order to get number 15, the girls will have to do all the little things right.
Stay tuned to KJAM throughout the evening for live updates with Ken Winthers.
