Lady Bulldogs advance to District Championship Game

The Madison girls' basketball team advanced to the District 5-A Championship last night with a 78-42 blowout over the Flandreau Indian School.

Madison took command of the game early as the Bulldogs built up a 24-2 first quarter lead. However senior guard Lindsey Rook says it was a slow start for both teams, as Madison didnt score in the first two minutes.

Madison extended the lead 45-15 at the half and then outscored the Indians in the second half, 33-27. Head coach Mat Nelson says Madisons defense was pivotal in the game as Flandreau committed 37 turnovers in the game.

Rook was named Player of the Game as she led Madison with 17 points. She was one of four Bulldogs in double-figures as Bailey Milne, Christa Paul, and Brianna Postma all finished with 11 points. Shaina Meseth led the Indians with 22 points as Flandreau ended its season with a record of 4-17.

Madison advances to the District 5A championship game against Flandreau Public; the Fliers won last night over Howard 46-36. The game will take place Thursday night in Tea; tip-off is at 8:30 on KJAM, AM 1390.
