State Powerlifitng Meet in Madison this weekend

High School weightlifters from across the State will converge on Madison this weekend for the 31st annual South Dakota Powerlifting Championships. The competition is this Saturday at the Madison High School Auditorium.

Madison powerlifting coach Tom Milne says the competition is divided into three specific lifts: bench press, squat, and dead lift.

An interesting feature of the competition is that the meet takes place in the high school auditorium and not the middle school or high school gyms. Milne says theyve don it this way for several years.

About 120 competitors will participate this Saturday. Milne says Sioux Falls OGorman and Madison are the heavy favorites this Saturday.

Competition starts Saturday morning at 9:00.
