Madison advanced to the District 5-A boys' basketball championship last night as it downed the Flandreau Indian School 86-38 at the Madison Middle School gym.
It was a close game in the first quarter as Madison led just 10-8. But the Bulldogs went on a 16-2 run to close out the first quarter and essentially put the game out of reach. Rebounds were also a major factor, as Madison out-rebounded Flandreau 49-27.
All five Madison starters finished the night in double-figures. Chad White was named Player of the Game as he had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Jarret Janke also scored 19 while Tony Fiegen added 15. Derrick Wiebe and Ryan Steffensen added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
For the 6-15 Indians, Jared Weston and Alvin Foote led the way with 9 points each.
Madison will play Howard Friday night at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls. Tip-off will be at 8:30 with the pre-game at 8:10 on Dakota's Best, AM 1390.
