Ten Dakota State University athletes will compete in the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Thursday through Saturday in Marion, Ind.
In total, they have amassed 14 All-American honors and hold nine DSU school records in individual events.
Six of the 10 are native South Dakotans.
Members of the 4x800-meter relay team are Andy Coy (freshman from Hill City), Cody Foreman (senior, Miller), Matt Fideler (junior, Volga) and Tyler Van Peursem (senior, Sioux Falls).
They have posted the third fastest time in the nation (7 minutes, 37.32 seconds). They were runnerup at the national meet last March.
Van Peursem is scheduled to run in the 1500-meter run on Thursday. He won the DAC title in the event earlier this month.
Brittany Young (freshman, Casper, Wyo.) and Stephanie Warnke (sophomore, Fairfax) will compete in the 800-meter run.
Devon Berkness (junior, Madison) will take part in the 10,000-meter run finals on Thursday. He will also run in the 5000-meter run semifinals on Friday.
Donna Lavea (senior, Christchurch, New Zealand) will compete in the shot put finals on Friday.
On Saturday, Danielle Rowe (junior, Rapid City) will compete in the high jump. This is the second straight year that she qualified for the NAIA Nationals in the high jump.
Fideler and Anthony Drealan (junior, Fulda, Minn.) will run in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Saturday.
