In the fall of 2003, speculation began about John Thune challenging Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle Madison native John Lauck decided that since he was working on the campaign, this would be a good chance to put all of his thoughts down on paper and write a book.
Shortly after the campaign ended Lauck began gathering his notes and compiling them into Daschle vs. Thune Anatomy of a High Plains Senate Race.
Lauck says the infrastructure was already in place since he began blogging about the race early on.
Lauck says Daschle vs. Thune was one of the most high profile races to ever take place.
Lauck says the Daschle vs. Thune campaign still holds relevance in 2008, both for natives of South Dakota and likewise around the nation.
Lauck was born in Madison, attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School and graduated from Madison High School in 1989. His book signing was held on Saturday at Books and More in downtown Madison.
