DSU Track Season holds many unknowns

Dakota States indoor track team got their season under-way last week at the USD/Derrick Miles open. Cross Country All-American Chris Heezen came away with a 2nd place finish in the 5000 meter and Tyler Van Peursem finished 3rd in the 800.
This years mens team features only 4 seniors- so many events will remain a question mark until later this year. Head Coach Buzz Stevenson says despite the losses- there are a number of quality athletes set to step in to fill the void.
Stevenson says the biggest concern for him right now though is finding ways to get bettereven when the weather doesnt cooperate. Without an indoor track facilityhe says just finding times to train can be difficult at this time of year.
For now--the track team can now sit back and dissect the results from their first meet- as their next competition is nearly a month away when theyll head to the Mankato Open.
