The Madison boys headed into the Christmas break on a winning note last night, holding off Deuel for a 51-46 win at the Madison Middle School Gym.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Bulldogs built up a 14-11 first quarter lead, then extended that lead to 29-22 at the half. Madison would go up by 10 several times, only to have the Cardinals rally and cut into the lead. But the Bulldogs hung on to win, improving to 3-1 on the season.
Jarret Janke earned Stadium Sports' Player of the Game honors, draining four three-pointers and leading all scorers with 23 points. Tony Fiegen had 12 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth-straight double-double of the season, while Ryan Steffenson added six for Madison.
Jordan Hintz led Deuel with 11 points, while Andy Taylor pulled down 9 rebounds.
Madison is off for the holidays, but will resume action on December 28th, when the team heads to Parker.
