DSU Trojans Win State Farm A.I.I. Men's Basketball Championship

The Dakota State University Men's Basketball Team won the first-ever State Farm Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) men's basketball championship on Sunday, February 26th. The Trojans upset Jamestown (ND), a former Dakota Athletic Conference rival, 80-71.
To earn their spot in the championship game, Dakota State had already upset Valley City State 82-73 on Saturday night.
Dakota State and Jamestown will both move on to the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament in Point Lookout, MO from March 7 - 13. Bracket information for that tournament is expected to be announced later this week.
The 2012 State Farm A.I.I. Basketball All-Tournament Team included Matthew Lee (Dickinson State), Casper Hasseldahl (Dickinson State), Travis Burley (Jamestown), Keith Biggers (Dakota State), Jesse Bean (Dakota State), and Donald Stewart (Dakota State), who was also selected as the tournament's most valuable player.
