DSU Trojan Football Opens with Loss to Peru State

The Dakota State University football team kicked off their 2012 season Saturday afternoon at home against Peru State. The Trojans fell 35-27 to Peru State 35-27 at Trojan Field.

Peru State took an early lead, 7-0, with 66-yard rushing touchdown from Ryan Ludlow. In the 2nd quarter, DSU's Brandon Large tied the game (7-7) with a 20 yard rushing touchdown. The Trojans took the lead 10-7 to go into half-time when DSU's kicker Nic Behrens, a freshman from Flandreau, converted a 42-yard field goal.

In the second half though, Peru State outscored the Trojans 28-17 to earn the victory.

The Trojans are on the road to Mitchell next week to face Dakota Wesleyan.
