Bulldogs are State 'A' Boys Basketball Champs

The Madison Boys Basketball team defeated the Tea Area Titans 54 to 49 on Saturday night in Rapid City earning them a State 'A' Boys Basketball Championship title.

The Bulldogs held the lead for most of the first quarter, but were then outscored 18-8 in the second quarter leaving the Titans with a 30-22 lead at half-time.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs held the Titans to just 2 points, regained the lead, and held it for the remainder of the game.

Three Bulldog players finished in double figures, led by Mason Sullivan with 11 points and Jacob Giles and Tyler Wiebe each finished with 10 points in the game. Wiebe, Sullivan and Trae Vandeberg were all named to the All-Tournament team.

This was the fifth State Championship in school history for Madison, and its third in the last five years. The Bulldogs finished the season with a record of 23-2.

The Tea Area Titans finished their season 21-4 and this was their first State Tournament appearance in school history.
