The Madison girls basketball team ended its four-game homestand last night with a disappointing 67-48 loss to Harrisburg at the Middle School Gym.
It was a tight first quarter, as Madison took an early 4-2 lead. But the Tigers finished out the quarter on an 11-0 run to take a 13-6 lead. Harrisburg would not look back, extending the lead 36-21 at the half and holding off a late third quarter charge to improve to 8-6 on the season.
Bulldog head coach Mat Nelson says a breakdown in fundamentals was key in the loss.
Lindsey Johnson lead all scorers with 17 points as four Tigers scored in double figures. Emma Johnson scored 13 while Allison Vos had 12; Allison Bierle finished the night with 10.
Yui Onadera led the 3-8 Bulldogs with 13 points, while “Player of the Game” Breanne Manthey added 12. As a team, Madison out-rebounded Harrisburg, 29-25.
The Bulldogs next travel to Arlington Saturday night. Tip-off is at 7:30.
