Bulldogs ground Quarriers

Madison used the long ball early and often last night as it won its ninth game of the season, a 54-47 win over Dell Rapids Public in Dell Rapids.

The Quarriers got things started, taking a 6-0 lead. But Madison rallied to tie the game at 13 as time expired in the first. Madison took a 26-23 halftime lead, only to have Dell Rapids take advantage of a couple of late turnovers to tie the game at the end of the third quarter. Madison’s inside game proved too much in the fourth quarter as the Quarriers fell to 4-9 on the season.

Ryan Steffenson led the Madison offense, as he launched six 3-pointers to finish with 19 points. His performance earned him “Player of the Game” status. Tony Fiegen picked up a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Chad White scored 10. In all, Madison had eight three-pointers and out rebounded Dells 25-20.

Tate Bunkers led Dell Rapids with 19 points, while Michael Reinhart and Kyle Tibke each added 8.

Madison is off until Thursday, when it hosts West Central in Big 8 Conference action.
