A late second-half rally fell short for the Madison girls basketball team as it fell a second time this season to Lennox, 61-57.
Lennox went on a 6-0 run in the first quarter to put themselves up 17-10, then outscored the Bulldogs 20-12 in the second quarter to go up by 15 at the half. Madison rallied in the second half, outscoring Lennox 35-24. But the Ladybirds were able to hold off the surging Bulldogs.
Melissa Vlastuin led all scorers with 16 points, nailing three 3-pointers early in the game. De Vries credits Vlastuins performance for setting the tone early.
Darcy Galbavy added 15 points, as the Ladybirds shot 45-percent from the field.
For the Bulldogs, Carlie Lambert earned Player of the Game honors with a 14-point, 9-rebound performance. Caitlinn Sullivan scored 12, as the Bulldogs shot just 38-percent.
The Bulldogs are back in action tonight, as they host Sioux Falls Christian at the Middle School. Tip-off is at 7:30 on Dakotas Best AM 1390, with pre-game at 7:10.
