Bulldogs Dominate Region Gymnastics

Madisons "Road to Fourteen" got off to a good start last night as the Bulldogs took first at the Region 2A Gymnastics meet in Wagner.
The Bulldogs dominated the competition with 139.8 points. Second-place Wagner had 124.025 while Vermillion was third with 118.4. West Central rounded out the scoring with 101.725.
Madison made a clean sweep of the individual events. Kassie Finck won three of four events, including the Bars, Beam and Floor, while teammate Katie Breuer took the Vault. Fincks three wins earned her the All-Around title, edging Breuer 36.25 to 35.25. Katie McKenzie also qualified for the State All-Around competition, placing fourth with a score of 31.8.
The gymnasts look to make history next weekend, when they compete at the State Gymnastics Meet at the Swiftel Center in Brookings. Team competition is Friday, while the Individual and All-Around competitions are Saturday.
