Bulldogs end regular season on sour note

It was a disappointing end to the regular season for the Madison boys’ basketball team as Milbank won the annual “Battle of the Bulldogs” with a 57-41 shellacking at the Middle School Gym.
Milbank took an early 7-0 lead before Madison rallied to take a 11-9 lead. But a Jeff Fish three-pointer gave Milbank a 12-11 at the end of the first quarter. It would be a lead the Bulldogs from the North would not give up as they built up a 3-point lead at the half then outscored the hometown Bulldogs 34-21 in the second half to end its regular season at 16-3.
Fish led all scorers with 23 points, including a pair of first-half three-pointers. Cory Lesnar also finished the night in double-digits, scoring 19. Tony Fiegen earned “Player of the Game” honors for Madison, scoring 21 points and just missing out on a double-double with 9 rebounds.
Madison finishes the regular season with a record of 14-6. The Bulldogs get the top seed in District 5A, as Flandreau Indian lost to Sisseton by six last night. Madison will host Flandreau Public in the first round Tuesday at the Middle School Gym, starting at 7:00.
