DSU Baseball Wins Sloppy, Avoids Sloppy Field

The Dakota State baseball team was scheduled for a non-conference doubleheader against Mayville State yesterday- but trimmed the action to one nine inning contest because of weather concerns. The Trojans came out on top 13-9 thanks in part to a 4-hit, 4-RBI performance by shortstop Greg Biagi.
Head Coach Dean Berry says the team considered canceling the game altogether- but instead waited to make any decisions. Offensively- DSU had no problems- banging out 17 hits. Defensively- Berry says there were some uncharacteristic mistakes- ending in 5 errors.
The Trojans next action is scheduled for tomorrow- a 4 game series with Minot State. With forecasts calling for plenty of precipitation- Berry says the schedule is apt to change again.
Berry also says it is possible to move the game to Minot if fields there are in better condition than in Madison. The doubleheader Saturday is slated to start at 1pm.
