MHS Netters start season

The Madison boys’ tennis team started the 2008 season earlier this week, an 8-1 loss to Sioux Falls Roosevelt at the MHS courts.
The Bulldogs find themselves in rebuilding mode after a record-setting season last year. Only one starter, Andy Lauck, returns from last year’s squad, which set school records with a sixth place finish at the State Tennis tournament and with 329 points scored at that tournament.
Head Coach Doug Sims says this years’ squad will be young, but will continue to improve throughout the season.
While Tuesday’s match ended up a loss, Sims was pleased with the positive attitude shown by his squad.
Barring inclement weather, the Bulldogs head to Sioux Falls today for a triangular with Lincoln and Aberdeen Roncalli. Sims says the Patriots were in a similar situation last year as the Bulldogs are facing now.
