The Dakota State baseball team took 2 of 3 from Dickinson State on Monday to advance their record to 13-and-8but the story of the series was provided by pitcher Jason Ciz (SIZ).
The senior and 4-year starter for the Trojans broke the school record for career wins with a 6-inning outing in game 2 of the series. The win gave Ciz his 23rd- besting Matt Schusters previous record of 22.
Head Coach Dean Berry says the record is something his team is excited about- but Ciz achieved it in an uncommon way.
Berry says the success Ciz has experienced can be attributed to his competitive nature- and a style that keeps hitters off balance.
Ciz will likely make his next appearance as a starter will be in Jamestown in a weekend series- but DSU will take the field today at 5pm in a make-up game with Dakota Wesleyan at Flynn Field.
