Lakes Gearing Up for Golfing Season

Last weeks blizzard put a damper on the opening week of the Lakes Golf Course on Lake Madison, but in the time they ran, people were itching to play.

General Manager Callie Wockenfuss says despite the blizzard, the early days of operation were very strong in terms of numbers of golfers.

Wockenfuss expects the course to re-open by mid-week.

Several changes were made over the fall and winter at The Lakes, including new landscaping and new golf carts. Wockenfuss says a new feature that golfers have been flocking to is the new driving range.

One of the big upcoming events is the Lakes Ladies Golf League Kickoff meeting, which will take place Saturday morning in the lower level of Geno's/Ricky Roy's. Registration is at 9:30 with the meeting to start at 10. If you're interested in the league, call Joyce at 256-2349.
