Big 8 Conference Meet Today

The Madison High School track season is starting to wind down. Today, the Bulldogs will be at West Central for the Big 8 Conference meet.

Its been a busy week for the Bulldogs. After a marathon session on Saturday at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays, Madison was back in action Monday at the Quarrier Meet in Dell Rapids. There, the girls finished second behind host team Dell Rapids while the boys finished tied with Tri-Valley for third. Head coach Kevin DeCurtains says there wasnt a lot of time for the athletes to recover from Saturday.

Despite the fatigue, the Bulldogs set four meet records in Dell Rapids on Monday. The Boys 4-by-1 and 4-by-200 meter relay teams punched their tickets to the State Meet, while Amanda Dailing qualified in the 100-meter dash.

DeCurtains says both the boys and the girls have strong chances to take home team titles in todays conference meet. However, the boys from Lennox could post a serious challenge to the Bulldogs. For the girls, Vermillions sprinters could make a couple of events ones to watch.

Todays meet gets underway at 3:00 in Hartford.
