Broncos win CBL opener.

The Madison Broncos broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning yesterday to win it's Corn Belt League opener over Lennox Poet, 5-1, at Flynn Field in Madison.
It was a pitcher's duel until Trent Miller's 2-RBI single scored Dan Rhodes and Jesse Brown in the fourth inning to give the Broncos a 2-0 lead. Lennox cut the lead in the sixth inning to 2-1 on a Justin Vietor RBI single, but Madison posted runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pick up the win.
Brown batted 3-for-4 with a stolen base and 2 RBI, while Brian Miller collected a pair of singles for Madison. But the star of the game was Madison pitcher Dan Rhodes, who struck out 18 Lennox batters in the complete-game victory. Rhodes credits his time playing baseball at Dakota State University as a major factor in yesterday's performance.
Lennox managed just five hits, as Brodie Mayfield led the team with a 2-4 performance. Brad Javers took the loss on the mound, despite giving up only 2 earned runs in six innings of work.
Our next Corn Belt League broadcast is this Sunday, when the Dell Rapids Mudcats head to Flandreau. First pitch is at 2:00 on "Dakota's Best," AM 1390.
