Bulldog girls win Region Track

The Madison track teams took part in the Region 3-A meet yesterday in Dell Rapids. The girls took the Region title, while the boys placed fourth.

The Lady Bulldogs blew out the competition with 228 points. Runner-up Dell Rapids had 141.5 points and Garretson with 99. Event champions from Madison include Lindsey Rook in the 100 meter dash, Yui Onodera in the 800-meter run, Laura Bloom in the 100 meter hurdles, Breanne Manthey in the 300 meter hurdles, Sara Rogers in the High Jump, and Katie Breuer in the Long Jump and Pole Vault. The 800-meter relay team also took home first place in yesterdays event.

Junior Joey Schrepel was the lone medalist for the Bulldog boys, placing first in the Pole Vault. The 1600-meter medley and 400-meter relay teams both took home regional titles. Sioux Falls Christian took the region title with 171 points, followed by Garretson and Dell Rapids. The Bulldogs scored 115.5 points to take fourth.

The State "A" tournament begins next Friday with preliminary action in Madison, then wraps up next Saturday in Sioux Falls.
