DSU Standout tries his hand at pro game.

Dakota State University basketball standout Joe Backus is one step closer to playing professionally. The 6-8 Forward from Wentworth is in Portland, Oregon this week for the International Exposure Camp.

The Chester High School graduate recently completed his career with the Trojans. During his four years at Dakota State, Backus averaged over 14 points and six rebounds per game. He also set the Trojan career record for blocked shots with 62.

Backus says this opportunity to play professionally began in Chicago.

Ten different professional leagues from the United States and other countries will be represented at the camp. Backus says the players will be gaged on several things.

As for his professional expectations, Backus says hes skeptical of his chances, but is still excited to show off his skills.
