13-14 VFW Teeners begin season

VFW Teener baseball got underway last night as area 13-14 year old teams began play in the I-29 League.

Twenty-two teams make up the I-29 league, stretching as for north as Toronto all the way south to Harrisburg. Madison VFW baseball director Paul Hansen says that’s forced the league to split into North and South Divisions.

With thirty-three 12 and 13-year olds out for baseball in Madison, the VFW program will split up into three teams. Dean Gehrels will coach the Madison Maroon, Todd Williams will coach the Madison Red, while Bruce Barrick will head the Madison White. Hansen says with three teams in town, it will give all the kids a chance to play.

Madison home games will be held at Baughman-Belatti Park in Madison with some select games at Flynn Field. The mid-season league tournament will take place June 10th, 13th, 14th and 15th.
