Bulldog Netters Gear Up for State

The Madison girls’ tennis team is in Sioux Falls today for the start of the 2007 State Girls Tennis Tournament. Play will take place at three locations, McKennan Park, Kuehn Park by Roosevelt High School, and at Washington High School.

The Bulldogs will be sending a full squad to this year’s tournament. While the girls finished under .500 with a 9-11 dual record, head coach Orlyn Larson says it was a good season for the girls.

Champions will be crowned in six individual flights and three doubles flights. Rapid City Stevens is the defending champion, but Larson sees Sioux Falls O’Gorman as being one of the favorites.

First-round matches begin at 9:00 a.m. today. Friday’s and Saturday’s matches begin at 8:45.
