Madison Teeners begin Region Play

The Region 13-14 year old Teener tournament gets underway this week in Clear Lake. Seven teams will vie for a chance to advance to the State Tournament later this month.
This comes as the I-29 League wrapped up action last week. The Madison White team finished last week with a 4-14 record. The team struggled with numbers all season long, but despite the low numbers, head coach Bruce Barrick saw a lot of improvement from the young squad.
The Madison Red team fared a bit better, finishing the season with a 10-5 record. It was a slow start for the Reds, but head coach Todd Williams says the teams pitching helped turn things around.
Both Barrick and Williams will team up with Dean Geherls to coach the Madison 14-year olds this week. The team will face Milbank in the first round on Wednesday. Williams says pitching will be key in that game.
In tonights action, the Madison 13-year olds will take on Toronto-White at 5:30, followed by Kingsbury County and Volga. The winner of the Madison-14 and Milbank will face host team Clear Lake on Thursday.
