Post 25 to face Garreston

Madison Post 25 returns to action tonight in the Region 2 Legion baseball tournament in Salem. Post 25 remains unbeaten in the tournament after knocking off Dell Rapids in Monday nights quarterfinal match, 16-6 in 8 innings.

Madison erupted for 9 runs in the first two innings, before settling down in the middle innings. A five-run outburst in the 8th ended the game on the mercy rule, as Post 25 racked up 19 hits in the win. Head coach Larry Johnson says the game was a bit closer than the score indicates.

Kurt Clark and Geoff Smith combined for the win, while Clark had four hits including a triple. Ryan Steffenson had two triples, while Smith had a pair of doubles.

Madison takes on Garretson tonight in Salem. Johnson says Madison will have to be ready to play against an experienced squad.

First pitch is set for 8:30.
