After a slow start to the season, the Madison 15-16 year old Teeners are gearing up for the Region 7-A tournament. Action begins Monday at Flynn Field in Madison.
Madison comes into the tournament on a high note. After starting the year 1-4, the team won 11 of its last 15 games to finish the season 12-8. Head coach Chris Waba credits Madison’s defense as a key reason for that success.
Madison drew a bye in the first round and will play the winner between Volga and Renner-Sioux Falls Christian. While Waba is unfamiliar with the Renner-Sioux Falls team, he knows Volga is capable of putting up some offensive fireworks.
Madison will play Monday night at 6:00. The double-elimination tournament ends Wednesday with the champion moving on to the State “A” Teener Tournament in Redfield.
