After a month long search the Dakota State University Womens basketball team finally has a new coach. Joe Reints (RINTZ) takes over the Lady Ts after Jeff Dittmans resignation last month.
Reints is no stranger to the area, he is a Willow Lake native who is a graduate of South Dakota State University. After spending some time as an assistant at Texas State, Reints took over a struggling program at Lambuth University in Tennessee. At Lambuth Reints was 69-33 in three years at the helm, culminating in the 2007 NAIA Division I National Championship. For his role in the teams success Reints was named 2007 NAIA Womens basketball Coach of the Year.
Reints will take over a program at DSU that has won three straight DAC championships and finished 21-11 last year and earned a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. Reints said that he is excited to take over a program that has been as successful as DSU.
While Reints has not had a chance to address the whole team, he says that he does think that the transition to a new coach will be met with some challenges for everyone.
After spending this week getting adjusted to his new surroundings, Reints hopes to get settled in full time by early next week.
