Bulldogs begin football practice

After finishing last season with only one win, the Madison High School football team has nowhere to go but up.
The 2008 season began this week, as 32 sophomores, juniors and senior reported for two-a-day practices. Tom Milne is back for his fifteenth season as the Bulldogs head coach and he says practice this week has been positive.
While this is the first official week of practice, Milne says the boys have been busy all summer preparing for the season.
Numbers may play a role in the Bulldogs success this season with just 32 players on the roster. While that might be a concern, Coach Milne is encouraged by the 21 freshman also out for football this year.
The sidelines will also look a little different this year as freshman coach Mike Ricke moves up to the varsity ranks; he replaces Max Hodgen, who stepped down to become the head football coach at Lennox. The Bulldogs start their season August 29th against Vermillion at Trojan Field.
