Bulldog Softball team begins season

The Madison high school softball team is back in action Tuesday, taking on the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Junior Varsity. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of games over the weekend to West Central and Vermillion to start the season 0-2.

Head coach Dawn Wiebers is looking to build on last years 4-6 season, which included a near-upset over state runner-up Lennox. She says one of the goals for this years squad is to help the newcomers make the transition from slowpitch to fastpitch softball.

With 20 girls out for softball this season, the team has also added a junior varsity squad.

Some of the top returnees are seniors Brianna Postma and Amanda Dailing as well as junior Nikki Seitz as well as Rutland student Logan Johnson. Tuesdays game gets underway at 6:30 at Thue Field in Madison.
