Bulldogs qualify for State Golf Meet

The Madison golf team qualified for the State "A" golf meet yesterday during the Region 1-A meet at the Madison Golf and Country Club. The Bulldogs finished second in the tournament, earning the team an automatic spot in next week's state meet in Hot Springs.
West Central took the region title with a team score of 356 while Madison was six shots back with a 362. Dell Rapids also qualified for the State meet with a 363, good enough for third place.
Ben Heller of Aberdeen Roncalli took medalist honors with a score of 80, edging Milbanks Ryan Patnoe. For Madison, Sean Campbell finished in a tie for fourth with an 85 while Mitch Manthey finished with an 89 for a tie for eighth place. Other top scorers for the Bulldogs include Michael Sullivan with a 92 and Sam Wilkens with a 96.
The State "A" Boys' Golf Tournament runs next Monday and Tuesday at the Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs
