Canton downs Madison

Madison traveled south to Canton Last night in hopes of getting its first win of the season. And that first win will have to wait for another week as the C-Hawks downed the Bulldogs 40-14.

Canton took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but Madison struck back as quarterback David Schreiber connected with Mitch Benson on a 48-yard touchdown strike to pull within one. But the C-Hawks scored three more times, taking a 27-6 lead at halftime.

Madison rallied in the third quarter, thanks to an 83-yard fumble return by Gerard McCarthy. That set up a touchdown run by Schreiber to get the Bulldogs within two scores. But Canton responded early in the fourth quarter with back-to-back touchdowns to put the game out of reach, as Madison falls to 0-6 on the season.

The Bulldogs return home for their final two games, starting Friday against Pipestone.
