The Madison boys' cross-country team had a strong finish to the regular season last week at the Big 8 Conference meet in Lennox. The Bulldogs won the team title in the four-team field.
Madison scored 20 points to take the title, edging West Central by two points. Head coach Bob Cordts says topping the Trojans was the exclamation point on the day.
Four Bulldogs finished in the top-10 as freshman Logan Wray took third. Mason Sullivan and Zach Hansen placed fifth and sixth, respectively and Jeremy Rud finished ninth. Cordts says Wray led the way for the Bulldogs.
Madison's girls finished third in the race, scoring 24 points. West Central took the team title, followed by second place Vermillion. Senior Brittany Olfert had the high finish for Madison, taking second place with a time of 15-minutes and 49-seconds. Cordts says the girls are right on the verge of being able to qualify the team for the State meet in Huron.
The Bulldogs next compete at the Region 2A meet Thursday in Dell Rapids.
