Be on the lookout for hunting violations

With the hunting season officially in full swing, many hunters are out and about in search of their prized pheasant or trophy buck. However there are some that dont play by the rules.

The South Dakota Department of Game Fish and Parks encourages area sportsmen to report any violation of hunting rules they may witness. There are several ways to report violations, calling a local conservation officer, calling the local or county dispatch or through the Turn In Poachers (TIPS) hotline.

Local officer Brandon Gust says all violation reports are treated as confidential.

Locally, you can report violations to Gust at 256-5005, or Lake County Disptach at 256-7620. The TIPS hot line is 1-888-OVERBAG, or 1-888-683-7224. Gust also recommends getting as much information as possible, including license plate numbers and vehicle descriptions.
