The Madison football team picked up its first win on the last game of the season last night, a 20-19 thriller over Lennox at Trojan Field.
Lennox took the early lead in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs took the lead on a Jacob Aus touchdown run and a David Schreiber extra point to lead 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The Orioles took a two touchdown lead into the third quarter, leading 19-7. But Schreiber connected with Justin Pederson on a 30-yard strike late in the third quarter to pull the Bulldogs to within one. Then with no timeouts left, Schreiber led the Bulldogs to the one yard line with three seconds left.
Aus scored with time time left and Schreiber would kick the extra point to give the Bulldogs the win.
Schreiber was 7 of 17 passing for 136 yards and two touchdowns while Gerard McCarthy rushed for 105 yards on 23 carries. Aus finished the night with 36 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while Lennox's Jordan Konda had 153 rushing yards and 91 passing yards.
Madison ends the season with a record of 1-7.
