Winning four of their last five games, the Madison Bulldogs headed into their regular season finale against Arlington last night looking for a win. But the Cardinals put a damper on the Bulldogs, winning three games to one at the Madison Middle School Gym.
It was a close pair of games to start the match. Arlington held off Madison in the first game to win 25-21. The second game was even closer, as the Bulldogs and Cardinals traded leads throughout, with Madison winning 28-26. Senior outside hitter Amanda Dailing says the big difference in the two games was the teams attitude.
The Cardinals would roar to life in the last two matches, winning the third game 25-12 and the fourth game 25-13 to improve to 27-3 on the season. Senior middle hitter Alyssa Weist says while the end was disappointing, it was a good match overall for the Bulldogs.
Madison ends the regular season with a mark of 14-12. The Bulldogs will face fourth-seed Howard next Tuesday at the District 5 Volleyball tournament in Flandreau. First serve is at 6:00 and will be on Jammin Country, 103.
