With less than two weeks to the start of the season, spirits are high on the Madison girls' basketball team. The Lady Bulldogs began practice last week and will open the season December 11th.
Mat Nelson is back for his second year as the head coach for the Lady Bulldogs. He says he’s been impressed with how much the girls have progressed over the past week. One area that Nelson has seen major improvement so far is in the Bulldogs’ offense.
The Bulldogs finished last year with a 9-13 record, losing to Dell Rapids in the region finals. With a solid core of seniors coming back and with a talented group of underclassmen, Nelson says expectations are high this season.
Madison opens the season a week from Thursday when it hosts Hamlin at the Madison Middle School Gym. Then the Bulldogs hit the road to face Sioux Valley in the Entringer Classic December 13th in Flandreau.
