Bulldogs win season opener

The Madison Bulldogs began their season last night with a convincing win over Hamlin. The Bulldogs won 81-43 at the Hamlin Education Center.

Madison had a 7-2 lead, only to have the Chargers knot up the game at 14-14 at the end of the first quarter. Neither team scored in the first three minutes of the second quarter, but the Bulldogs went on a 12-2 scoring run late in the quarter to extend their lead 38-25 at the half. The second half saw the Madison defense hold Hamlin to just 18 points, while the Bulldogs racked up 43 to improve to 1-0.

Three Bulldogs finished the night in double figures. Chad White led all scorers with 26 points, while Ryan Steffenson drained five 3-pointers in a 20-point effort. Derrick Wiebe just missed out on a double-double as he score 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Tylor Struckman led the Chargers with 15 points and five rebounds.
