The Lake County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is raising funds for Benjamin McGuire, son of Matt and Brita McGuire and grandson of Stan and Tammy Fods of Madison. On January 27, 2011, Benjamin received 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 44% of his body after pulling a pot of boiling water off a stove top.
The day's events include a freewill donation pork loin feed, bake sale, and silent auction, with John Green painting an original picture the day of the fundraiser.
Raffle tickets for jewelry donated by Riddle's of Brookings, Johnson's of Madison, and Roger's of Sioux Falls are being sold beforehand and the day of the fundraiser. Tickets are available at many locations, including The Shepherd Shop of Madison.
An account for donations is set up at First Bank and Trust of Madison and Brookings.
The funds raised will help the family with medical, household, traveling costs, and any other costs incurred with the care of Benjamin.
