A Soldier’s Journey Home: DSU Theatre Raises Funds for Military Association

Dakota Prairie Playhouse

The DSU Theatre Company continues their “Theatre for Change” series with a special presentation of “The Odyssey” on Thursday, October 31 through Saturday, November 2 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, November 3 at 2:00 pm at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse.

A portion of the ticket sales will go to the National Military Family Association, which is the leading non-profit organization focusing on issues important to military families. The association offers scholarships, helps send children to Operation Purple® which is free program for children coping with the absence of their deployed parent(s), organizes retreats for military families dealing with war-related injury or long separations, and conducts research to assess the ever-changing military environment.

“The concept of this production is ‘The Odyssey’ is the story of a soldier’s journey home and the family that waits for him,” DSU Theatre advisor, Kelly MacLeod said. “We will be showing the images of soldiers with their families and friends reuniting after war during the opening of the show. In this way, the show fits greatly with the National Military Family Association.”

To reserve your tickets please call 256-5666. The show runs approximately two hours and is recommended for those 10 years old and over. Tickets are $10 for 12 years and older; $5 for 11 and younger. Military members and their guests are free with military ID. Freewill donation to the National Military Family Association will be accepted
